What Is the In-Hand Salary for RRB NTPC UG Posts?

The initial basic pay is not the same as the final monthly in-hand salary. The total salary may include applicable Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance and other admissible benefits, depending on the posting and prevailing Railway rules.

Deductions and other applicable adjustments also affect the amount credited to the employee's bank account. Therefore, the exact in-hand salary cannot be determined from the basic pay alone.

Candidates comparing Level 2 and Level 3 posts should consider the initial basic pay, job responsibilities, medical standards and other service conditions rather than choosing a post solely on the basis of its starting salary.

RRB NTPC UG Medical and Eyesight Standards 2026

Medical fitness is an important eligibility condition for RRB NTPC Undergraduate recruitment. Candidates shortlisted for the relevant stage must pass the medical examination prescribed for their opted post.

The notification specifies different medical standards for the four posts. These include requirements relating to distant vision, near vision and other eyesight tests, wherever applicable.

For A-3, the notification prescribes distant vision of 6/9 and 6/9, with or without glasses, subject to a maximum lens power of 2 dioptres. Near vision must meet the prescribed Sn 0.6 standard, and candidates must pass applicable colour vision, binocular vision, night vision and myopic vision tests.

Candidates who have undergone LASIK or another refractive-error correction procedure are not eligible for posts carrying A-3 under the conditions specified in this notification.

B-2 Medical Standard

For B-2, the prescribed distant vision is 6/9 and 6/12, with or without glasses, subject to a maximum lens power of 4 dioptres. The near-vision requirement and applicable field-of-vision tests must also be satisfied.

C-2 Medical Standard

For C-2, the notification prescribes distant vision of 6/12 in one eye and nil in the other, with or without glasses. Near vision must meet the applicable Sn 0.6 standard where reading or close work is required.

Important: These are key eyesight requirements, not a complete substitute for the medical rules. Candidates should read the medical standards section of CEN 07/2026 and the relevant Railway medical requirements before selecting posts.

RRB NTPC UG Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates should verify their educational qualification, age and other eligibility conditions before filling out the application form. Eligibility must be assessed according to the detailed notification, not just the general description of the recruitment.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess Class 12 (+2 Stage) or an equivalent qualification from a recognised board or institution, subject to the specific conditions for the post.

For the notified posts, the general requirement is at least 50% aggregate marks in Class 12. However, the notification states that the 50% requirement is not to be insisted upon for SC/ST candidates, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, Ex-Servicemen and candidates who possess qualifications higher than Class 12.

The prescribed qualification must have been obtained by the application closing date, 13 November 2026. Candidates awaiting the results of their final qualifying examination are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

The age limit for the notified undergraduate posts is 18 to 30 years as on 1 January 2027, before applicable age relaxation.

Candidates should calculate their age using the date specified in the notification. The age recorded in the Class 10 or equivalent certificate must match the details entered in the application.

Age Relaxation

Age relaxation is available to eligible reserved and other specified categories under the applicable rules. The exact relaxation depends on the candidate's category, service status and other conditions mentioned in the notification.

Applicants should check the relevant age-relaxation provisions of CEN 07/2026 and ensure that they possess the required certificates. Relaxation should not be assumed to apply cumulatively where the notification does not permit it.

Nationality and Other Conditions

Candidates must meet the nationality requirements specified in the notification and provide valid supporting documents wherever required. Applicants should also ensure that they satisfy the medical requirements for the post preferences they select.

Only one RRB may be selected for this recruitment. Candidates should carefully choose their RRB and indicate their eligible post and Railway/Production Unit preferences within that RRB.

RRB NTPC UG Application Fee 2026

The application fee varies according to the category specified in the notification. The fee must be paid through an accepted online payment method.

Important Rules for Fee Payment and Refund

  • The examination fee is payable online through the accepted payment methods, including internet banking, debit or credit cards and UPI.
  • The applicable refund is linked to appearing in the first-stage CBT; paying the fee alone does not make a candidate eligible for a refund.
  • Refunds are subject to the notification's conditions and applicable bank charges.
  • Candidates claiming the EBC fee concession must meet the prescribed requirements and provide valid supporting documents.
  • EBC, EWS and OBC-NCL are different categories. EBC fee concession should not be confused with EWS or OBC-NCL reservation.

Candidates should enter their payment and bank details carefully and read the refund provisions in the official notification before submitting the application.

CBT 2: Second-Stage Computer-Based Test

Candidates shortlisted from CBT 1 appear for CBT 2. The normalized marks obtained in CBT 2 are used for shortlisting candidates for document verification.

Document Verification and Medical Examination

Candidates must produce the original documents required by the RRB, including educational certificates and applicable category certificates. Candidates must also pass the medical examination prescribed for their opted post.

Meeting the minimum qualifying marks does not guarantee selection. Final selection depends on merit, available vacancies, document verification, medical fitness and the other applicable recruitment conditions.

According to CEN 07/2026, the Computer-Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) for Junior Clerk cum Typist and Accounts Clerk cum Typist has been dispensed with for this recruitment.
